Spring 2019 in 3 words: collaboration, alignment, direction

Classes: French 302, JSIS 201: Intro to Globalization, and Honors 220: Modern Problems in Biology

Extracurriculars: Unite UW Facilitator, writer for The Daily, teaching art lessons at a local elementary school

Quarter in Review: I felt as though I hit my stride during spring quarter--I'd completely adjusted to college by that point, and had more direction in terms of what I want to study. I had a lot of fun with my biology class, because I was able to learn from Honors students studying STEM, and it was a chance to learn more about a subject I didn't think I would be able to delve into on an International Studies track. Taking JSIS 201 and learning more about diplomacy and current events was fascinating for me, and made me very excited about continuing on with the introductory international studies series. I enjoyed my French class a lot and continuing to feel as though I'd developed a degree of fluency in the language. And I was super grateful to have a leadership opportunity with Unite UW. I enjoyed all the connections I was able to make through this RSO, and I had fun helping plan and facilitate events.

SPRING QUARTER ARTIFACTS

One of the most memorable events of this quarter for me was the Unite UW facilitator retreat on Vashon Island. We did a lot of reflection on our leadership styles, strengths and areas of growth, and did many group activities to get to know one another. I had so much fun as a facilitator, and I attribute a lot of that to the collaborative dynamic our leadership team was able to achieve.
